This was developed in the late 1980s. It is briefcase style with a foldout screen with a clamshell form factor, suitable for mobile use and with a miniature keyboard. It is small enough to use in your lap. The laptop is battery or AC-powered personal computer that should be charged via a plug and socket, and when it runs out of power, it must be recharged regularly.

Laptop computer originally monochrome CRT-based, the components of a laptop are built in monitor; Keyboard, Touchpad (which replaces the mouse), USB, graphics card and sound card as well as high-capacity batteries that are made to keep the laptop power for a long period of time.

The laptops are more expensive because the technology to be more compact and they are more difficult to design and manufacture. If you have a limited space, it is worth considering a "portable" computer. They give you exactly the same comfort and performance of a desktop computer, but they take up less apace.

The First Laptop or Portable Computer?

The IBM 5100 is the first portable computer, which was released in September 1975. The computer weighed 55-pounds and had a five inch CRT display, tape drive, 1.9 MHz PALM Processor, and 64 KB of RAM. In the picture is an ad of the IBM 5100 taken from a November 1975 issue of Scientific American.

The first truly portable computer or laptop is considered to be the Osborne I, which released in April 1981 and developed by Adam Osborne. The Osborne I weighed 24.5-pounds, had a 5-inch display, 64 KB of memory, two 5 1/4" floppy drives, ran the CP/M 2.2 operating system, include a modem, and cost $1,795.

The IBM PCD (PC Division) later released the IBM portable in 1994, its first portable computer that weighed 30-pounds, Later in 1986, IBM PCD announced its first laptop computer, the PC Convertible, weighing 12-pounds. Finally, in 1994, IBM introduced the IBM Think Pad 775CD, the first notebook with an integrated CD-ROM.

The first Apple laptop, the Macintosh Portable, was released in September 1989. Due to its size and cost (roughly $6500), it was not very popular. Apple changed their approach to laptop development and, in October 1991, released the Power bank line of laptops. They released the Power Book 100, Power bank 140, and Power Book 170, which were more well received in the computer market.

How Laptops Work?

How laptops work is simpler than you might think. What makes a computer or a laptop? A few parts all put together as one together as one portable and mobile computer that can be taken anywhere. This is how laptops parts working together.

You can take it on the road, take it to beach, take it to the office, take it to the classroom or even take it with you while you are taking care of your personal business in the bathroom. The choice is always yours. My point is, that its your personal mobile computer that gives you the freedom to go anywhere and still be able to get your spreadsheet done, play your favorite game, watch your favorite movie or stuff the internet wherever and whenever you choose. where as a desktop computer keeps you chained to a desk in a small room or office. Life does not get any better than having a computer that travels with you.

What laptops parts and computer components make a laptop light enough to be portable? To be carry under your arm, all without even straining a muscle? Take a look at the first.

Laptops Parts and Components :

  • Monitor LCD (liquid crystal display) screen
  • Mini-keyboard
  • A pointing device that acts as a mouse
  • hard drive for data storage.
  • CD/DVD drive to play your favorite movies :)
  • Motherboard that sends instructions to the CPU
  • Memory modules that keeps data in temp storage
  • Central processing Unit the computer brain
  • speakers for listen to music and voice.
  • Battery power for portable travel.
  • Hard Plastic case/cover to keep the laptop part in.
It is amazing how few computer parts are really needed to make a computer light and mobile. Of course, it does help to make them small enough to all fit inside a small computer case. Cases come in many different colors in your style, personality and even the cloths you are wearing for the day. However, only a few of us own more than one or two laptops. Perhaps if you are a women with  plenty of money you could buy a different color laptop for each different pair of color shoes you have in your closet. For the rest of us, we are happy with one color laptop that works well and is a color that best fits our style and personality. Of course, don't forget that if it looks good but has no decent computing performance it might as well stay in the closet!
